A nationally renowned center for treatment and research in children's mental health, the Pediatric Psychiatry & Psychology Clinic provides treatment for a wide range of emotional, psychological and cognitive problems in kids ages 5 to 18. We also see children who have been brought to the hospital's emergency room with behavioral emergencies, as well as pediatric inpatients who are currently under our care.
Our experienced clinical staff includes psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and psychiatric nurse practitioners, who work closely to identify what's causing your child's problems and suggest potential solutions. We offer brief and long-term individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy and family psychotherapy. When appropriate, we offer medication and ongoing medication management.
The care at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals is highly family-focused, so we also train parents in helpful methods of addressing their child's behavioral problems. Please note that there are certain conditions we don't treat at our clinic – they’re handled at specialty clinics like our Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders Center, Hyperactivity, Attention & Learning Problems (HALP) Clinic, or Eating Disorders Program.
