Organizations that Support Immigrant Youth

It is more crucial than ever that immigrant youth have access to the quality mental health care they deserve. Below you can find a list of organizations and people working to support immigrant youths' mental health .

  1. Asian Mental Health Project- The Asian Mental Health Project, works to destigmatize mental health among Asian individuals. By increasing dialogue via storytelling and helping spread support resources with mental health professionals, they make it easier for Asian folks to be open to the idea of mental health support. They offer a safe space for Asian individuals to engage in mental health commentary that centers the needs of the Asian community.

  2. Center for Empowering Refugees & Immigrants- CERI is a nonprofit based in Oakland with a mission to improve the social, emotional, psychological, economic, and physical health of refugees and immigrants. Their youth program offer a safe space for young folks to explore mental health issues and promote personal wellness and self-esteem .

  3. Latinx Therapy- Latinx Therapy, aims to break the stigma of mental health in the Latinx community by connecting Latinx youth with mental health providers and resources . You can also find podcasts, book recommendations, and other resources on their site.

  4. Loveland Foundation- The Loveland Foundation, founded by writer and activist, Rachel Cargle, provides financial assistance to Black women and girls to access mental health professionals across the country that provide high quality, culturally competent services.

  5. National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network- The National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network is a healing justice organization committed to transforming mental health for queer and trans people of color. In addition to their mental health practitioner directory they have a mental health fund that provides financial support to individuals seeking care.

  6. QTPOC Mental Health- QTPOC Mental Health is a trans -led organization with the stated mission of "creating online and offline spaces for trans and queer people of color to practice being their whole selves." And also to "connect trans and queer people of color to resources and support." They have a directory of mental health resources on their website, and also host virtual meeting spaces.

  7. Sidra Program- Diversity in Health Training Institute's Sidra program provides wellness and mental health support and services to Middle Eastern and North African youth living in Alameda County

  8. South Asian Mental Health Initiative & Network- South Asian Mental Health Initiative and Network (SAMHIN) was established to address the full range of mental health needs for South Asian community members. Through research and mental health education, SAMHIN works to reduce social and economic barriers that limit access to care for South Asian individuals.

  9. The Trevor Project- The Trevor Project provides crisis services, peer support and advocacy for LGBTQ youth. They provide a safe, confidential hotline that is available via phone, text, and chat 24/7.
